New Patriotic Fabric Items

About a year ago, I started a new project of English Paper piecing, using some beautiful vintage-looking red, white and blue patriotic themed fabrics.

It is still a work in progress, slowed down for a while by some shoulder issues which made for difficult hand sewing.

I decided recently to use some of the fabrics to make a few bags to sell in my etsy shop, and I'm pretty happy with the way they came out:

Shaking Things Up with New Bags!

It dawned on me recently that my etsy shop was looking a bit like same-old-same-old, and I decided it was time to offer some different sized bags.

In other words, it was time to shake things up!

I have been making zipper pouches in a 7' by 5" size for a long time. Recently, I have been making some samples or prototypes of both smaller and larger bags, and will be listing some new ones in the shop over the next few weeks.

The first one is the Mini-pouch which measure approximately 4" wide by 3" tall, and has a sewn-in tab and detachable split ring to attatch keys to or to clip to a purse strap.

This size pouch is great for:

-eearbuds
-loose change or cash
-contact lens case
- lip balm
-essential oils
-tissues-
-eye drops
-earrings
-breath mints
-rings
-ear plugs

The other new size bag is a long "pencil" pouch, which is perfect for art brushes, pens and pencils, cosmetics, or sunglasses.

I will be adding more new sizes soon, so please stay tuned for further updates!

The Wedgie Bag- Stand Up Flat Bottom Zipper Cosmetic Pouch

I have been making these bags for quite a while now, and it involved a lot of trial and error to get the perfect fit between the inner lining and outer part of the bag. At first, I measured obsessively, but have gotten to the point where I can eyeball the seams and it usually comes out fine- usually!

Sometimes, I make these bags with inner pockets and sometimes with no pocket. They are wide enough at the bottom so it is very easy to see everything inside at one glance.

These can carry a lot of stuff and make colorful addition to your bathroom vanity or dresser top- roomy enough for travel essentials like lotions, cosmetics, hair brushes, or for valuables such as jewelry.  Makes a unique, handmade gift for someone who travels, or to dress up your vanity at home!
